The regular school day for Briscoe Middle School begins at 8:45 am and ends at 3:00 pm.
Students may go to their lockers and to homeroom beginning at 8:30 and are expected in homeroom no later than 8:45. Those who arrive before 8:30 may go to the cafeteria. Students are only allowed upstairs before 8:30 if they are meeting with a teacher or going to the library, which typically opens at 8:15.
Students arriving at school after 8:45 must go to the office for a tardy slip before proceeding to homeroom or to a class that is in progress.
Students who must be dismissed from school early (to go to a doctor appointment, for example), must report to the office in the morning on arrival with a signed note from their parent or guardian explaining the reason for the early dismissal and the time that the student will be picked up. The note must be brought to the office secretary, who will give the student a dismissal slip to present to the teacher when the student is leaving early. A parent or guardian should meet the student in the Briscoe office at the early dismissal time.
Students may stay in the school building after 3:00 if they are with a teacher for extra help, participating in extra-curricular activities, or working in the library. Students may not remain in the building if they are not with a teacher or other staff member.
There is a late bus that
leaves at 3:50 pm most days and drops students off throughout the city. It is only
for use by students who already ride the bus AND who are getting extra help or participating in clubs or
activities should be utilizing the late bus.
Early release days:
On certain days, all students may have a early release time due to holidays or for teachers to meet with parents for parent afternoon back. On these days, there will be no after-school activities or late bus. Students are expected to leave the building promptly at the early release time. These times may vary and will be listed on the school calendar and through other communications.
Pickup and Dropoff:
We ask that parents and caregivers follow established procedures for dropping off their students and picking them up. It is important to follow these procedures for the safety of all! Please refer to this map for a visual
of pickup and dropoff locations for buses and parents.
